Vortex

Deceptively simple, elegant and badass to the core.

Featuring a striking headstock design with modern Steinberger gearless tuners, arranged diagonally across the headstock for a longer string path on the low E string. This dark navy blue guitar appears black until it gets bathed by the bright lights of the stage.

Steves Take: “It gives you a straight line path for the string for improved tunability. While that is important, I don’t ever want to design my headstocks JUST to make sure the string path is straight”. The personality of this particular Vortex: “It’s actually extremely dark navy blue tiger maple/flamed maple, if the stage lights hit it, the maple figuring explodes.  Just a simple, albeit very intonatable wrap-around bridge. You can do anything. It’s a chambered body, mahogany with a maple top. It’s all about the looks really. I was experimenting with adding mica to the paint. It’s deceptively simple, but with a slight roll-off of the tone nob, you can go from P-90 to a humbucker sound. Steinberger tuners, it’s really elegant, but also badass and also so simple. That guitar is basically a modern take on a Les Paul Jr. and just taking it into a crazy modern thing with the Steinbergers.”
