Supernova

This hot rod of twang boasts Classic Filter’Tron™ pickups & custom Bigsby Vibrato tailpiece

The Supernova’s lacquered maple fretboard and rock maple neck enables the player’s ample fretboard access; the neck attaches at the 20th fret. The sleek body features classic Filtertron pickups, first introduced by Gretsch at the NAMM Guitar show in Chicago in 1957; designed as double-coils, they filter out the electronic hum characteristic of single-coil pick-ups, improving output and sustain and enveloping the listener in a warm tone.

These pick-ups, beloved by players from George Harrison to Brian Setzer, channel the soul of vintage rock n’ roll, and this guitar, combining the best of Les Pauls, SGs, Gretsch and Telecasters, is guaranteed to offer versatile function and graceful style.

Steve’s Take: “It’s kind of rare to have a maple fretboard with Filtertron pickups. You’re not going to see a Gretsch with a maple fretboard. It’s got a super high neck/body joint, like an SG type of feel. It’s got some more simplified controls than the Wiltertron...it’s the hot rod of twang. It’s chambered, which gives it an extra resonance. I always liked the attack that comes from a chambered body.”
